Facts About the Event

  • The Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & ½ Marathon will bring over 30,000 runners and walkers to San Antonio, in addition to tens of thousands of spectators, family and friends.
  • To get the most out of your weekend and minimize stress, be aware of the road closures in your area and plan ahead for an alternate route or added travel time.
  • The Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & ½ Marathon provides a venue for charities to raise millions of dollars.

Join the festivities! San Antonio residents are encouraged to visit the free Health & Fitness Expo at the Alamodome, volunteer during race weekend, line the course to cheer runners and/or attend the post-race headliner concert at the Alamodome.

Freeway Information

No freeways will be closed on race day, however expect delays on IH 37 near downtown and the Alamodome, due to the close proximity of the race course and finish line. A few freeway ramps will be closed:

Road Closures

Most road closures and detours will be in effect between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  At 5:30 am, Police and event personnel will implement a soft closure along the entire race course.  The races begin at 7:30 am, and streets will reopen on a rolling basis as soon as the last participant has passed and all course support materials have been removed.

Please review the road closure grid and course map for more information.  Residents and businesses located near the race course are urged to plan ahead and to be aware of road closure schedules and alternate access routes.

No Parking

Streets along the race course will be marked with No Parking signs approximately 72 hours before the event. Vehicles in violation of these posted signs will be ticketed and towed at the owners’ expense.

Use the alternate access map and driving directions to get in/out of popular areas, including:

  • Mission Trail
  • La Vaca Neighborhood
  • Mission San Jose
  • Pyron Neighborhood
  • Mission and San Jose Burial Parks
