Rock Star Finishes Full Marathon and Earns Coveted Rock Star Medal
Five hard-earned Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series finisher’s medals meant Rock Star status today at the second annual Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon when Jeff McMahon, keyboard player for Tim McGraw’s band the Dancehall Doctors, crossed the finish line of the full marathon course. McMahon’s completion of his fifth Rock ‘n’ Roll event in 2009 earned him bragging rights and a coveted Rock Star Medal.

The first ever Kids Rock San Antonio presented by YMCA was a success! This kids race was a non-timed, non-competitive fun run for children in grades K – 5. All participants receive an official race number, T-shirt, race goodie bag, colorful finisher’s medal post-race refreshments and FREE admission to the San Antonio Zoo after the race!

A huge congratulations to the nine official charities comprised of over 500 participants have raised over $1.2 million for their respective charities.
A HUGE thanks goes out to the 4,500 volunteers that helped make the event a success. From the expo to the water stations to the start and finish lines, there was always a friendly face and a helping hand. San Antonio, TX (November 15, 2009) — 29-year-old Gilbert Koech led a five-man Kenyan sweep of the second annual Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon today, notching his first marathon victory since the 2005 Las Vegas Marathon. In testing, humid conditions, Koech broke from the five-man lead pack shortly after the 19-mile mark, and was headed on his way to victory in a time of 2 hours, 14 minutes and 39 seconds.
